The plague is from bacteria called Yersinia pestis. These little bacteria live on many animals in the world. Fleas are the most common transmitters of the Bubonic Plague. They bit the human and that's how we can get the plague. Back in medieval Europe the plague killed millions. However, today the plague only kills about one thousand to three thousand a year.
